    Group Tours

If you are an individual family looking to bring a group of students to campus, please schedule an “on-campus tour” here

Thank you for your interest in a Harvey Mudd College group tour!
We are grateful and excited for the opportunity to uncover your students’ potential in higher education and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) at HMC and/or beyond. Our group tours are led by current HMC undergraduate students, who will provide a one-hour in-person walkthrough of campus and a comprehensive overview of relevant academic programs, resources, and student life tailored to the specific needs of your individual group of students. In order to ensure a smooth, successful experience, please review the following important information before submitting:

    Group Tour Guidelines

Each group tour request requires approval and confirmation from our team prior to the scheduled tour. HMC reserves the right to cancel reservations for groups that fail to meet our criteria. By making a reservation, your group agrees to adhere to the rules listed below:

    • Group tours are reserved for high schools and community-based organizations who work with students in the 9th grade level and above.
    • The primary contact listed on the form is responsible for responding to any communications sent by us via phone or email, so please confirm the details are correct and operational. Failure to confirm the details of your tour prior to or on the day of the visit if deemed necessary by our staff may result in a cancellation of your reservation.
    • Group sizes range from a minimum of 5 guests to a maximum of 25 guests depending on your requested time. If you are interested in bringing more than 25 guests, we suggest splitting them across the other Claremont Colleges either by registering for their group tours or contacting 5cgrouptours@gmail.com. We typically encourage those interested in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) in the liberal arts college setting to visit our school.
    • One adult chaperone is required per 13 students, and the chaperone(s) are required to stay with the group for the entire duration of the tour. The chaperone(s) are responsible for maintaining the safety and well-being of the students throughout the tour. In accordance with HMC’s Honor Code, we expect that all campus visitors, including student guests, are inclusive and respectful and hold themselves and each other accountable. Chaperones should be conscious to control excessive talking and any inappropriate actions/language. If any guest behavior jeopardizes the holistic safety of any individual or the quality of the tour, HMC Tour Guides reserve the right to end the tour at any time. Please refer to HMC’s Honor Code here for additional information.
    • If any part of the visit needs to be adjusted (i.e. different ending location), please communicate these needs as soon as possible by indicating them in the comments of the form, emailing us at hmctours@hmc.edu, or calling us at (909) 621-8011. Your reservation may be subject to termination if the nature of these changes significantly affects the logistics and quality of the group tour.
    • Arriving late will result in a shortened tour. If your group arrives more than 15 minutes late, the tour will be canceled. As there is a high demand for these tours, please be considerate of our guides’ time and other groups and cancel your reservation if your group ends up being unavailable so that we may open this opportunity for others. Cancellations should be completed at least seven business days prior to the scheduled visit if possible. Failure to communicate delays and absences, even if unforeseen, may prevent your ability to book future reservations.

    General Reminders

    • We recommend parking in designated visitor-only spots along the north side of Platt Blvd., or anywhere along Foothill Blvd. For school and charter buses, we recommend that you park on Foothill Blvd. Parking passes are available for you to place on your vehicle’s dashboard when you check in to avoid ticketing.
    • The tour includes a substantial amount of walking, so please be sure guests wear comfortable shoes and stay hydrated.
    • While housing, athletics, and dining is discussed verbally on the group tour and guests are encouraged to ask questions, tour guides will not walk students inside residential dorms, athletics facilities or dining options as we are not permitted visitation to those areas.
    • Meal vouchers for group tours are generally not provided by the HMC Office of Admission at this time. If your group would like to dine on campus, groups are permitted to bring food from home or order delivered food from nearby vendors and eat in our outdoor spaces. If your group needs to purchase meals on campus, the Cafe at Mudd remains open for lunch to guests. If your group would like to dine inside our dining hall, our Hoch-Shanahan dining commons remains open for lunch to guests but requires a notice ahead of time and payment will need to be conducted the day of ($17.75/guest for lunch). More information about the dining hall can be found here. Please indicate your preference on the registration form itself.

Group times become available a few months in advance. To request a group tour, please click on your preferred tour date. You will then be able to select from possible tour times below. Dates/times highlighted in yellow have open availability.

After your form is submitted to our office, you will receive a confirmation email. If your request is not approved, you will receive a cancellation email. To check the status of, cancel or update an existing reservation, please email HMC Campus Tours at hmctours@hmc.edu or call us at (909) 621-8011.

Thank you, and we look forward to connecting with your students soon!
